Zambia

Zambia is located in Southern Africa, east of Angola and south of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with terrain consisting mostly of a high plateau with some hills and mountains. The climate is tropical, modified by altitude, with a rainy season from October to April. Lusaka serves as the capital, and Zambia has a population of approximately 22.02 million people who speak Bemba, Nyanja, Tonga, Lozi, Chewa, and English.

Zambia has a lower-middle-income sub-Saharan economy that is a regional hydroelectricity producer, with trade ties and infrastructure investments from China and IMF assistance to restructure its debt burden. Key industries include copper mining and processing, emerald mining, construction, foodstuffs, beverages, chemicals, textiles, and fertilizer. The country possesses rich natural resources including copper, cobalt, zinc, lead, coal, emeralds, gold, silver, uranium, and hydropower. Zambia has one of the youngest and fastest-growing labor forces but faces systemic corruption and extreme rural poverty.
