Yemen

Yemen is located in the Middle East, bordering the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Red Sea between Oman and Saudi Arabia, with a narrow coastal plain backed by flat-topped hills and rugged mountains. The climate is mostly desert, hot and humid along the west coast, and temperate in the western mountains affected by seasonal monsoon. Sanaa serves as the capital, and Yemen has a population of approximately 34.51 million people who speak Arabic.

Yemen has a low-income Middle Eastern economy whose infrastructure, trade, and economic institutions have been devastated by civil war, with massive poverty, food insecurity, and unemployment. Key industries include crude oil production and petroleum refining, cotton textiles, leather goods, food processing, handicrafts, and cement. The country possesses natural resources including petroleum, fish, rock salt, marble, coal, gold, lead, nickel, and copper. Yemen is oil and gas-dependent but faces decreasing reserves and high inflation.
