Vietnam is located in Southeastern Asia, bordering the Gulf of Thailand, Gulf of Tonkin, and South China Sea, with low, flat deltas in the south and north, central highlands, and hilly, mountainous terrain in the far north and northwest. The climate is tropical in the south and monsoonal in the north with a hot, rainy season from May to September and a warm, dry season from October to March. Hanoi serves as the capital, and Vietnam has a population of approximately 106.69 million people who speak Vietnamese.

Vietnam has a lower middle-income socialist East Asian economy that has experienced rapid economic growth since the Doi Moi reforms, driven by strong investment and productivity growth. Key industries include food processing, garments, shoes, machine-building, mining, coal, steel, cement, chemical fertilizer, glass, tires, oil, and mobile phones. The country possesses natural resources including antimony, phosphates, coal, manganese, rare earth elements, bauxite, chromate, offshore oil and gas, timber, hydropower, and arable land. Vietnam is a tourism and manufacturing hub with declining poverty, though systemic corruption remains a challenge.
