Namibia

Namibia is a country located in Southern Africa along the South Atlantic Ocean, between Angola and South Africa, covering an area of approximately 824,292 square kilometers. As of 2025, Namibia has a population of about 2.85 million, with English as the official language and Oshiwambo, Nama, Afrikaans, Herero, and other languages widely spoken. The country features mostly high plateau with the Namib Desert along the coast and the Kalahari Desert in the east, with a desert climate that is hot and dry with sparse and erratic rainfall. Windhoek serves as the capital, and the government operates as a presidential republic.

Namibia has an upper-middle-income economy with a GDP of $13.37 billion and a GDP per capita of $10,300, driven by mining, tourism, fishing, and agriculture. Key agricultural products include root vegetables, milk, maize, beef, and grapes, while natural resources include diamonds, copper, uranium, gold, silver, lead, zinc, fish, and salt. The unemployment rate is 19.3% as of 2025, with a poverty rate of 17.4% and life expectancy of 67.5 years. Namibia is expanding the Walvis Bay port to boost trade and has high potential for renewable power generation, though it faces challenges including a shortage of skilled labor.
