Kuwait

Kuwait is a country located in the Middle East, bordering the Persian Gulf between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, covering an area of approximately 17,818 square kilometers. As of 2025, Kuwait has a population of over 3.17 million, with Arabic as the official language and English widely spoken. The country features a flat to slightly undulating desert plain with a dry desert climate of intensely hot summers and short, cool winters. Kuwait City serves as the capital, and the government operates as a constitutional monarchy (emirate).

Kuwait has a high-income, oil-based economy with a GDP of $160.23 billion and a GDP per capita of $45,400, driven by petroleum, petrochemicals, cement, shipbuilding and repair, water desalination, food processing, and construction materials. Key agricultural products include dates, eggs, milk, tomatoes, and chicken, while natural resources include petroleum, fish, shrimp, and natural gas. The unemployment rate is just 2.2% as of 2025, and life expectancy is 84.6 years. Kuwait maintains the oldest sovereign wealth fund in the world and is developing renewable energy, space, and tourism industries as part of its 25-year development program.
