Guinea Ecuatorial

Equatorial Guinea is a country located in Central Africa, consisting of a mainland region and several islands, covering an area of approximately 28,051 square kilometers. As of 2025, Equatorial Guinea has a population of over 1.7 million, with Spanish, French, and Portuguese as official languages. The country features coastal plains, hills, and tropical rainforests on the mainland, with volcanic terrain on the islands, experiencing a tropical climate. Malabo serves as the capital.

Equatorial Guinea’s economy is heavily dependent on oil and natural gas, which account for the vast majority of exports and GDP, making it one of Africa’s largest oil producers. Despite its resource wealth, the country faces significant challenges including political repression, corruption, and limited economic diversification. Key agricultural products include cocoa, coffee, and timber. The government has made efforts to develop infrastructure and diversify the economy, but progress has been limited by governance issues and reliance on hydrocarbon revenues.
