The Dominican is located in the Caribbean, occupying the eastern two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, east of Haiti. The terrain features rugged highlands and mountains interspersed with fertile valleys, and the climate is tropical maritime with little seasonal temperature variation.
