About Congo (Democratic Republic)

Democratic Republic of the Congo is a country located in Central Africa, bordered by nine countries, covering an area of approximately 2.34 million square kilometers, making it the second-largest country in Africa. As of 2025, DRC has a population of over 109 million, with French as the official language. The country features the Congo River Basin, tropical rainforests, savannas, and mountains, experiencing a tropical climate. Kinshasa serves as the capital.

The DRC is one of the world’s most resource-rich countries, with vast deposits of cobalt, copper, diamonds, gold, coltan, and tin. The country is the world’s largest producer of cobalt, a critical component in batteries and electronics. Despite its immense natural wealth, DRC faces severe challenges including political instability, conflict, weak infrastructure, and widespread poverty. Agriculture employs the majority of the population, with cassava, maize, and palm oil as key products. The country continues to work toward stability and development.
