About Colombia

Colombia is a country located in northwestern South America, bordered by Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador, with coastlines on both the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea, covering an area of approximately 1.14 million square kilometers. As of 2025, Colombia has a population of over 52 million, with Spanish as the official language. The country features diverse geography including the Andes Mountains, Amazon rainforest, Caribbean and Pacific coastlines, and grasslands. Bogota serves as the capital.

Colombia is one of Latin America’s largest economies, driven by oil, coal, coffee, flowers, and increasingly technology and services. The country has made significant progress in security and peace following the 2016 peace agreement with FARC rebels. Key agricultural exports include coffee, bananas, and cut flowers, while the industrial sector produces textiles, chemicals, and processed foods. Despite ongoing challenges including inequality and drug trafficking, Colombia continues to attract foreign investment and develop its tourism and technology sectors.
